Hi, I'm Christa Maldonado. I started teaching public school in 1996 and have been teaching at an alternative education high school in Ontario, California since 2000.
I currently teach history and psychology to 11th and 12th graders. After 20 years of teaching, I found myself ready to be done! My students were getting more complicated and more difficult to deal with everyday, I was exhausted. All of that changed when I learned about trauma-informed teaching practices! I feel rejuvenated! And I am so excited to share everything I have learned with you!
Here's the family! My husband and I do our best not to miss a minute of our two sons' activities. We have been to probably thousands of baseball and football games. I am their biggest fan and I couldn't be more proud of them!!! Fun fact...I was their little league coach for seven years
Together, we love boating, off-roading, camping, and are always looking for the next adventure.
And this is my inspiration, my nephew! He is the reason I am so passionate about creating schools everyone wants to be at. I am a better person because of him. School was not a happy place for this little guy. (I'm tearing up just thinking about it, ugh.) He has taught me the importance of positive relationships with students and how schools truly have the power to change the course of the world.
